So to answer Laurence's question more directly, does WUXGA "mean that this is better quality image wise?"

No. Just that they are basically doing a trick to get more pixels out of the single-link DVI connection. Hence the need for a Dual-Link DVI connection for the 30" version. The new card as 2 dual-link DVI connections so you can have 2 30" displays at once, off one card.
