Haven't Seen This Before...

This may be a Mac issue... but here's the skinny (bear with me):

I'm editing a wedding. Had to go back and tweak a thing or two, make a change here and there... save, export... all that jazz. Made my DVD... all is good. Project is complete.

Opened up DVDSP4 today and one of my menus in the project lost its background and in its place was the actual video. Menu 1 and menu 2 use the same template, but now menu 2 has no black background and instead the video plays behind it. Pretty odd. I figured I'll have to go back and create a new menu. But why would that happen?!

Also odd was the fact that one of my m2v files was different! Same name... but the file was a previously exported file! The previous file had a misspelling, but I had fixed it and discarded the old m2v file. The NEW m2v file was fine a few days ago, but now it has the misspelling in it!

So I open up FCP6 and my timeline is also different and reflects the misspelling... even though I had saved it!

It seems my Mac has set FCP and DVDSP4 back to August 3rd or whenever. What gives?!

I've never had this happen to me, but when anything weird like this ever happens I take an hour to do some basic system maintenance.

1) Restart system
2) Repair Permissions (using Disk Utility located in the Applications>Utilities folder)
3) Verify/Repair Disc (you have to restart from your operating system CD/DVD to do this, but it's a good idea to do if you're having weird problems like this)

Another idea is to trash the Preference files for both FCP and DVDSP.

How full is your hard disc? If there's less than 10% available space, that can cause some weird issues as well.

None of these things will fix your problem for sure, but they might.
