Panoramic plugin ? For building panoramic as we do with fotos ?
 

Hello everybody,

First post on this section of the forum.

I'm looking for a plugin to build panoramic view in FCP (or Motion), you know, the thing so easy to do with fotos : 3 (or more) fotos aligned horizontaly for showing a wider space.

I tried to do it in Motion, but had problem where the videos have to merge, and distorsion, etc. At that time i tried to build a panorama with 9 videos place like this :

It ended like this :

Wide angle, isn't it ? But it really was a lot of work...

So is there someone that can link me to a plugin that can help me for doing this more easily...

you simply shoot with several cameras (the same ones as possible and in progressive mode) with small ovelapping zone.
Then you capture and export as suite of pictures.
then you use the same program you use to stitch pictures except you run it in batch mode.
PTGui is great for this.
When all pictures are stitched , you import back to video.
Problem is that even with 2 full hd cams, you hardly get more then 3200pix by 1080, while with a RED you can shoot 4K. So i am not sure it worth the pain. Rent a RED.

Thanks for the answer but, sorry... i won't buy nine cameras or rent a red, not in my price range. I already have a jvc gy-hd251 and want to work with it.

That's why i'm looking for a software solution to do the thing easier.

You can still export the video as images and do what Giroud said. And then import as an image sequence.

or maybe just get a wide angle lens ;-)

I'm also looking into that direction, and will probably buy a Century Optics .0,7x and .0,5x.

I will also try the batch possibility of PTGui.

but if you got only one camera how the will it make a panoramic picture with shots taken at different times ? Cars and people will just appear and disappear magically, clouds in sky will move between the shots and even shadows will look strange.
Even with still picture it is already tricky to make panorama if content is moving.
A wide angle lens will fit more content into the field of view, but you can do the same by going backward, no need to purchase a lens.
And the resolution will stay the same, so a panoramic view doest not only mean wider field of view but better resolution too...

I've already tried the limitations. For moving objects, it doesn't works. For nature, it's better, but without cloud. I don't wan't to shoot long time so the problem with shadow doesn't exit. And i can't go backward if i'm on the top of a montain, like i did yesterday :

I will probably buy a wide angle adapter... but will probably try to create a panoramic with differents shots from it. More for an artistic point of view that a realistic one.
