FCP 6.6 / Magic Bullet

I just got Magic Bullet looks 2.1 and I was messing with it last night. It's pretty cool but I can't get my Panasonic HMC150 footage to look like some I've seen. Is there an online training guide or something?

Examples of work I've seen and like.

These are 2 completely separate issues and one has nothing to do with the other.

First, getting good-looking imagery starts with what you're doing in-camera; exposure, composition, lighting and of course customizing the camera's color and gamma response. To figure out what settings might give you a better look try browsing the HMC150 category here on the forum and get tips on setups from other camera users.

With regard to Magic Bullet or any other filters and effects, it's all about using those plug-ins as a jump-off point to create your own look. Rarely will you find an experienced editor who takes any filter and uses default settings "out of the box".

There are various forms of training on both your camera and using color-correction filters for FCP at places like Lynda.com and similar sites.

My suggestion would be to master your camera-work first; start out with good-looking footage and then tweaking in post becomes less work.

My footage looks amazing, that's not the issue. I was just asking about the magic bullet stuff. I'll play with it more and see what I can come up with.

thanks
