Video source switching?

Hello,

I run a video & news web page and am planning to add an interview show. What I need is software that will allow me to easily switch between two sources of recorded footage (show host and interviewee). I'd prefer to use a single audio track from one of the sources for the finished video. I want to be able to just start both sources and then switch while they are playing--speed is important--and to record the result to a new file.

I believe that FInal Cut Studio has this capability. Has anyone here used this feature? Is it *easy* and quick to use?

I'd also be interested in hearing if there is any other software out there that has this functionality, especially something that might be cheaper than buying FCP. Al I care about right now is the switching capability. I did look at BionxTV but so far it seems to me that it would be hard to get both recording sources queued up and synched correctly--plus it is half the cost of FCP so maybe I should just go all the way...

I currently have FCE and, of course, iMovie.

Your help is greatly appreciated!

If you're referring to muti-cam editing yes, FCP absolutely has that feature allowing you to easily and quickly switch "sources" during your edit. Check out the built-in help in FCP and read up on the setup procedures and the shortcut keys you'll need to know for the operation.
