Snow Leopard Safe?
 

I've been otherwise occupied and haven't been keeping up with the forum for the past few months. I am finally about ready to upgrade my main edit system to snow leopard, and wanted to ask if snow leopard works well with xdcam transfer/FCP, and if all the updates are safe to do...?

Well, it's been a weird week on top of a weird few months...

I vaguely recall 2 things ... One was a warning from a respected source about waiting at least six months to upgrade to a new operating system, since things can get broken and take a while to patch, and the other was that there were some issues with XDcam and FCP and Snow Leopard when it was first released. So I have a top of the line iMac that came with and is using Snow Leopard with no problems, but I decided to wait for a good while to put it on my main system Mac Pro, especially since I still feel new to the Mac world and installing the OS update potentially opens cans of worms with the RAID and Kona and such.

I probably could have explained this better in the first place. Not the first (or last) time that will happen. Thanks for the reply.

Evidently not. It appears you have to update the sxs drivers. That's the sort of info I was looking for with my original question.

Edit:
Fortunately I have 2 MacBook Pros. Somehow the attempt to reboot after trying to use the express card failed, and now it won't boot from it's own hard drive. It will from an external backup made prior to the Snow Leopard upgrade, and from the install disk, so I'm running diagnostics now.

So probably better to upgrade the sxs driver before inserting an sxs card.
