Can't hear audio captured from channel 2

I shot some footage but accidently put my mic in channel 2, as apposed to 1, which I of course normally use. The problem is I have no audio now in my FCP. While capturing the footage into FCP I can clearly hear the audio no problem at all coming from my internal computer speakers but once the footage is captured there is no sound at all during playback. I have been losing my mind trying to solve this problem to no avail.

Making matters worse I see the vu meters bobbing up and down, so there is clearly audio in there somewhere. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

First check the obvious: headphones not plugged in?

Other possibility: Final Cut Audio/Video Settings, A/V Devices tab, Audio drop-down should be set to "Default".

And when you say "vu meters bobbing up and down" do you mean as you would expect for the track you recorded (i.e. around -6dB or so), or just showing a slight trace of audio?

All the obvious things I think were checked. VU hovers just below -6db.

Actually, maybe it's -60db??? On a scale of 1-10, 10 being the top of the vu meter, it bobs around the 2 mark. So maybe that constitutes trace audio...i don't know.

In the category of leaving no stone unturned, I trust you tried restarting your computer. I've experienced the no audio a rare couple of times and restarting cleared it.

Are the FCP mute buttons on (green buttons on the left of attachment 1 for tracks 5-12)?

Is the Solo button for the empty track turned on (Headphone icon on attachment 1 track 1)?

Attachment two is a screenshot of the FCP "VU Meters". Is yours showing "bobbing audio on track one?

What happens when you play the captured file (in your Capture Scratch folder structure) outside of FCP (e.g. in the Quicktime player or VLC)?

Each track has volume and pan controls in FCP. Is yours set to 0 or higher?

I don't seem to have the headphone thing visible. See pics.

And what about the track level? -60db is pretty low. When I force a sound track to be that low, I can't hear it unless I turn my speakers up.
