Problems with Mino Flip footage in FCP 7.0.3

Hi all,
I tried editing MP4 clips taken with my Mino Flip in FCP. When in Viewer or on Timeline, image doesn't roll on <play>, stays frozen at first frame or any subsequent frame where the mouse has clicked.

Sound, meanwhile , is OK.

Any rermedies, anyone ?

Many thanks

MP4 isn't native in FCP. Try using Compressor or MPEG Streamclip to make them Pro Res files.

Transcode to prores and you should be good to go.

audio problem with prores

Marty, Greg,
video is working fine, but audio gets butchered, comes out as nothing more than a bip bip bip . Waveform is flat except fpr bips.
what did i get wrong ?
thanks

What are the settings of the audio? Should be 48k 16 bit

Claude Mangold January 26th, 2011 11:41 PM

Truth is, I don't know, I just dragged the prores 422 setting into the job. is it necessary to select audio as well ?

Marty Jenoff January 27th, 2011 02:29 AM

Possibly. When you made it Pro Res, I don't know if it kept the audio settings the same or if it changed. them. When you hear the beeping noise, that means the audio has to be rendered. You can try to render the audio and that should work. But if you make any changes, you have to re-render.

Thanks a lot, Marty. Rendering worked, took no time at all.

Luckily I had only a few clips, but this would be a real nuisance when the project is large.
Is there any way to transcode so that the audio doesn't have to be rendered separately?

Marty Jenoff January 28th, 2011 03:45 AM

When you use Compressor to transcode to ProRes, just check the audio settings and make sure its 48k 16 bit
