Transferring iLife sfx to Final Cut Pro/iTunes?

Can it be done?

The only way I can think of would be very time consuming and that would be to open up a new iMovie project, import a sound effect or jingle, extract the audio, drag it onto the desk top then drag it into iTunes.

As far as I'm aware FCP doesn't have a cache of sound effects or royalty free music.

Many thanks in advance, I know I'm posting a lot on here recently but after years of procrastinating I'm finally off the runway with Final Cut but the tutorial DVD and the YouTube tutorials don't cover everything.

This forum has thus far proved to be an invaluable and much appreciated place to get questions answered and the replies from everyone here have always been prompt and helpful, unlike some of the Mac forums I have tried.

Go to your hard drive, Library/Audio/Apple Loops/Apple. In there should be a folder called iLife Sound Effects. The files are .caf, so you might need to transcode them, but I think FCP will read them fine.

Thanks, it works! Though shame you can't preview the tracks before importing but that's the same with any imported audio.

FCP comes as part of Final cut studio which contains Soundtrack Pro. Soundtrack Pro has royalty free music and lots of sound effects on board.

You most certainly CAN preview them! Here's how. Open Soundtrack Pro.
On the right hand bottom side, you will see three tabs (Browser, Search
and Favorites). Click the 'Browser' tab. Navigate to Harddrive>Library>
Audio>Apple Loops>Apple>iLife sound effects. Click on any sound effect
you want and preview away........
