Fixing an Actor's Complexion in Post on the Mac

Hi All,

What is the right tool to fix the complexion (annoyingly noticeable acne detracts from an otherwise good performance) of an actor? My movie is more or less done and now exists as a 24p master. I could apply some sort of diffusion but that looks cheesy.

I don't mind cleaning things up one frame at a time but what is the best tool to do so? After Effects? Photoshop can't edit QT movies can it?

Thanks!

You could try keying out the flesh tone colors, and messing with that.

Key out the flesh tone colors and apply blur and/or noise/grain reduction to it.

You may also be able to replace flesh tone color with a single tone.

With both of the things above, mix the original back in about 20% and it may look more natural.

You may also be able to do things with blending in the red or cyan channel using AE's luminosity compositing mode. Look at the red or cyan channels and figure out in which channel the acne is less noticeable.

2- Can you post up a picture?

Making the video black and white helps some.
