Nightmare reconnecting media - it is there but it says it isn't!
 

This is FCP 7 hell - it locates the media okay but when I click choose I just get the 'No you can't do that' noise, and I have tried every variation conceivable and I've highlighted the clips before going to reconnect.

The project is from 6 months ago and the PRIVATE file from the camera has been backed up in it's entirety onto an external HD.

The most baffling thing is that despite everything in the timeline being a red 'Media Offline' box, it plays perfectly and I can even compress it to a QT file and all the footage is there in the right place, but not in the thumbnails - including all the yet to be used clips in the browser, so I am unable to continue the project.

Any ideas welcome.

Hi Cameron,

The fix for this has been to go into your thumbnail cache folder, usually in the FC documents folder somewhere, and delete the two files in that folder. Relaunch FC with the project and then the thumbs regenerate.

Let us know if that works.
