Can't seem to capture 10-bit. help?

Hi,
I'm trying to capture BetaSP through component as 10-bit using a DecklinkSP card. Everything is set to NTSC 10-bit, and export blackmagic 10-bit, but when I open the file in After Effects, the file is listed as "millions of colors".

Oh, and AE is set to 16bpc.

It seems like it's actually on capturing 8-bit.

Any tips on what I'm doing wrong?

I fail to see why you think it isn't working. Your presets are 10-bit right? Why does millions of colors make you think you did something wrong? What were you expecting to see?

Look at the clips ITEM PROPERTIES...see if it is 10-bit. If it says it is, it is.

Because 8-bit color gives you 16 million colors - "millions of colors".
10-bit color should give over 1 billion colors - "billions of colors".

So if it's saying the clip only has "millions of colors", how can it be a 10-bit image?

Incorrect. Millions of Colors is the most you get...even with the lossless Animation Codec.

That is not what the difference between 8-bit and 10-bit are.

That is not what the difference between 8-bit and 10-bit are.

8-bit images hold 256 colors per rgb channel, resulting in 16.7 million colors, whereas 10-bit images hold 1,024 colors per rgb channel, resulting in 1.07 billion colors.

Could you explain when a 10-bit capture is not a 10-bit image?

Or where could I find information if that is too much to explain here?

I've been searching and have not found any other answer than what I've provided.

Thanks for the replies.
