HDV 1080i60 to 1080i50 conversion

Hello.
How can I convert footage shot on my Z1U from 1080i60 (NTSC) to 1080i50 (PAL) without dropping frames on Final Cut Pro 5.
Thanks.
Jeff

Hi Jeff, I moved your thread to our FCP 5 forum; the "anouncements" forum isn't intended for this sort of thing.

I doubt that you can do a good job of 60i to 50i conversion in FCP. I think I read the new version of Compressor can to NTSC to PAL conversions now. I just upgraded myself and haven't had a chance to try any of this however.

Graeme's Standards Conversions will work for Standard Definition, but not sure about 1080i: http://www.nattress.com/standardsConversion.htm

You might visit Apple's Compressor support forum as well: http://discussions.apple.com/forum.jspa?forumID=999

Thanks Boyd. Yes, it handles 1080i. For NTSC to PAL, lower the amount of of motion blur control in the plugin to keep the resolution up. For SD conversions, Compressor is about 30 to 40 times slower than my plugin - I'd hate to see how slow it is for HD.
