FCP 5.0 Color Correction

I'm trying to figure out how to apply two color correction filters to the same frame, and I'm at a loss.

I'm trying to drop the scene to black & white and change the color of an object in the frame at the same time, but it only does one filter at a time.

Any suggestions?

Hi David,

As far as I know, one filter only adjusts what the last filter left for it. In other words, if you make something black and white, the only way you can add color back to it, is if you color it in yourself.

While I've never done the effect you're after, I believe the solution lies in how you apply the first filter. I would try limiting your effect to a specific area. I know you can click "----Limit----" while in the Color Correction modification window, and it will bring up tools to allow you to select one area only, based on different factors, such as illumination or color. If you have a picture of one flower in a field of green grass, and you want to change the pedals from blue to orange, you would use the color selection tool to select the blue, then adjust the settings up top as normal to your desired orange.

If it's more sophisticated than that, which it probably is, I'm probably not the best for advice. Hopefully I was able to help in some way.

Good luck!

David if I understand what you mean you are wanting to do the pleasantville effect. Do a search here or on Google and it should lead you to a good tutorial.
