FCP's Media Manager: Recompress?

I've been editing a project using clips exported as Microsoft .DV and have been editing them using FCP. Prior to this project, I've used Final Cut's 'Media Manager' to recompress clips that will smoothly edit within an FCP project.

However this time, despite copying/recompressing through Media Manager, the imported clips still present a Media Manager suggestion even though they are the new, recompressed clips.

I'm almost positive it just has to do with the audio of each clip (the audio requires rendering when on the timeline). I am simply recompressing as DV NTSC 48khz (which is the output for the project as well). Is there an option I'm missing or can any point me out to the blind spot I've got? :) Thanks.

Oh, I am using Final Cut Pro 5.0.4, just to be sure :)

I'm not entirely sure I understand your workflow but Final Cut does not work with .dv files natively. For best results export your files as quicktime(.mov) files using a dv codec or convert them before import. I like to use Mpeg Streamclip, free download at versiontracker and I think flip4mac has a solution as well. Good Luck, Jason.

Of course!

Hi Jason. Thanks for the advice. Your approach to it is obvious but good - I should have thought of it before. Thanks again! :)
