Photo effect...

Hi,

I was flicking through the Tupac ressurection documentary and came across a certain effect they used throughout the documentary where they have a still image and have the peson in the image zoom in, and at the same time have the rest of the image zoom out. Has anyone used this technique and can anyone share with us, how this is done?

Regards

Ismail

Ok Ismail, from best I can tell you are descriping a solo like effect where one part of the image becomes the center piece of the frame while the other parts fade into the distance. The easest way I have found to do that is make two copies of the still, perferably in .psd (Photoshop) format. Leave one copy of the file unedited and pull the other into a program like Photoshop. While in Photoshop (or whatever program you like) select just the part of the image you want to bring out (person or object) using the Selection Tool. Then go Selection>Invert Selection from the file menu. Press Delete. Now save the image as some file with a transparent background. Import both images (unedited and edited) into FCP and line them up on the timeline Full unedited on the bottom, edited on the top. Then just animate with the motion tap's for each, render, burn to disk, let cool before serving. :) lol
Hope this is what you wanted, John Christensen.
