Weird Audio 47.99999khz
 

Ok, I'm new to final cut, but this was strange. I recorded about 10 clips of video. When you view the clips in the bin 8 of them are 48khz and two of them are 47.99999khz.

When I put the 47.9999 Khz clips on the time line, it says the audio needs to be rendered.
All the clips were recorded in the same session, same source deck etc. Nothing changed, execpt that a few are different and need rendering.

If you have soundtrack pro you could send each full clip over there, then from the process menu you can resample the audio to 48 KHz, then save and go back to FCP and your clips should be good.

I just got final cut suite, I havent even opend Studio pro yet.
I let final cut render the audio and it seems fine.
Can I just leave it at that?

But is there a reason it would up 47.999 when all the clips were recorded the same way?

What camera shot them? This used to be an issue with the original Canon XL series cameras.

All footage was shot on a Sony PD-170
But I used a PC-3 (small mini dv camera) to record to finalcut.

Does anyone know what causes the 47.999 khz audio? Like I said before, they were all recorded the same way.

You might have tried to stretch the event, causing it to be resampled.

Thanks for the reply. But its happening on clips that are just recorded, not even touched. As soon as I record them, and look at their listing and they say 47.999 khz. Its now happened on two separate 50 min clips that I recorded in a row.

Can you post a sample? Just the audio will be fine.

I've had issues where periodically DV recorded from one camera was slightly "off" like that. I will never be certain why it happened, but the net result was that the video (almost an hour of it) drifted off sync by a fraction of a second by the end of the hour tape and had to be manually re-sampled and re-synced. A gigantic PITA. I'd suggest trying to re-capture it into FCP and see if the same thing happens (try short clips of a few seconds).
