Mactheripper

Hi there,

Have just ripped a dvd on mactheripper and imported into FCP. Visuals work fine, but there aint no audio. Theres only one VOB file once ripped. Has anyone any idea as to why this is happening? Is it the settings?

Thanks alot! Jack :)

I've never used Mactheripper, but I've had very good luck with MPEG Streamclip (search google)

I one had to re-edit in a small clip of an important family member I left out of a wedding video, and I didn't have my original project, so I just used MPEG Streamclip to convert my DVD into a DV clip that went right on the FCP timeline, where I could then edit in the small clip from tape.

Works great, and it's free too

Jack,

The .VOB file is a multiplexed .mpeg, meaning there is no separate audio track. It's all been "muxed" into one track. FCP only sees the video because there is no audio track for it to see.

Mac The Ripper is not the right tool for you. It's used for ripping DVDs to disc for viewing, not editing.

Use MPEGStreamclip. Import the .VOB files that you need and then export them to the codec in which you are editing in FCP. Remember to go to Edit>Fix Time Code Breaks also. This will leave you with a video file that will not need rendering in FCP and will have an audio track as well.
