A quick Question on Anamorphic Convertion
 

I am editing on FCE 2.0 and have put a piece together that was imported in an anamorphic timeline. I'd like to export it as 4x3 letterbox. I know that there is the aspect ratio control under the motion controls, I was just wondering if anybody knew the right correction number off the top of their head to turn 4x3 anamorphic into 4x3 letterbox at 16x9? If there's a better way to do it I'm open to that too...

I found the answer to my own question. The answer is -34. But I thought that I'd share the process that enabled me to find out that number.

On V1 I had the material that I wanted to convert to letterbox. I added about 10 seconds of a slug to V2. I then applied the letterbox filter to the slug, and changed the bars to white. Then I applied a luma key filter to the slug line and keyed set to "key out darker". This gave me a translucent line right where the borders of the footage should be to have the correct aspect ratio. Then it was as simple as selecting V1 and using the aspect ratio correction feature under the motion control.

good job Kevin, however, for accuracy's sake, and for future reference, the aspect ratio distotion should be -33 .. close enough tho!
