FCP 5.1.4, Issues or problems?
 

Hi:

I have delayed installing FCP's latest update while I awaited the group's feedback but seeing very little, I will ask the question: Have there been any issues or problems with the latest 5.1.4 update from any perspective?

I've stayed with 5.0.x myself since I'm on the G5. This is completely anecdotal, but I see a lot of posts here about firewire problems that seem to have version 5.1.x in common. Try paging back through this forum a few months and see if you notice a pattern as well...

(EDIT) I thought you were talking about 5.0 vs 5.1, but now I see you were specifically asking about the latest 5.1.4 update so my comments don't really address that... sorry!

I too am using a G5 dual 2.7 Ghz machine with FCP 5.1.2 and have noticed several posts that indicate what may be user specific issues with 5.1.3 and firewire and for that reason alone have delayed updating.
As you correctly indicated, I am most interested in determining whether the 5.1.4 update is safe or not. FCP 5.1.2 has been doing its job, ableit, with an occasional hiccup.
