filters stopped working in final cut 5.1
 

Can anyone give me some advice. My filters seem to have stopped working in final cut. I've downconverted to edit off-line directly through the camera and am working in DV NTSC anamorphic, but my filters wont register. does anyone know what could be wrong. i've looked at all my settings but just have no idea what the problem could be. the filters work in other projects.
any help appreciated

also i've just realised that none of my transitions work either..

And apple/z undo does not work either...?
 

I'm at a bit of a loss so any suggestions would be much appreciated.
other projects i open work fine, so i guess its specific to this project?

And all of a sudden it all starts working again? odd
 

though undo is still disabled...?
