No video playback in Color

Hi all,

I cannot get Color to playback video. If I play a clip in the timeline, the video preview part of the Scopes window is all black, and the scopes are all just displaying the value of black.

I'm using Color on a MacBook, so it's using the Intel GMA card. I know that technically FCS2 doesn't want you to use Intel GMA cards (they are not technically supported), but FCP works fine with my Intel GMA. And if I go into the Secondaries room in Color, enable secondaries, and choose the Previews tab, then Color will display that preview in the Scopes window. But I cannot get normal playback to work, e.g. so I can use the Primary In room.

Has anyone experienced this problem, or know for sure if Color just plain will not work with Intel GMA?

Thanks,
Adam

Apple's pretty clear that Color only works with certain graphics hardware. They have a second set of system reqs for Color that are outside of the FCS2 specs.

What's interesting is that when I render the video in Color so that the orange bar turns green above the timeline, and playback the resulting .mov file in QuickTime (outside of Color), it's still black.

Now I know that the Intel GMA supports GPU acceleration, it isn't a speed demon but it works. I wonder if Color is completely GPU accelerated and refuses to run GPU code on any video card that is less than the Color requirements...

Bingo.

In addition, it uses specific OpenGL features that only certain cards have...that's why they say only xxx and yyy cards will work.
