V1u 24p, 24pa: Can FCP 6 and new Cinema Tools remove the pulldown?

I'm VERY curious if this is possible in native HDV, removing the pulldown in V1u's 24p and 24pa footage.

Can anyone confirm?

Thanks,

Heath

Okay, first the Sony in 24P mode should work with FCP as the same capture preset as the Canon uses, which is HDV 1080/24P. Or you could capture 1080/60i and go through Cinema Tools.

Second, there is no 24PA mode on the Sony, as most people think there is. It is a 24A mode, which is not Advance Pulldown like 24PA, but instead it records every clip on an A frame. This is a different type, and no, FCP still does not work with it.

Steve,

I had no luck capturing 1080p24 V1u footage via the HDV 1080p24 capture preset (for Canon 24f and XDCAM HD) in FCP 5.1.4.

The only way I've been able to remove the pulldown is detailed here:

Does it work through Cinema Tools at 1080/60i? Since it is HDV, you might need to transcode to an "i" frame codec.

For versions 5.1.4 and earlier, you need to change it to something else. Adam Wilt changed it to DVCPro HD, I used Photo - Jpeg at 75% quality (4:2:2, YCbCr).
