Specialist Workflow - Multiple Clips same intro/outro
 

Hi everyone. I've been working with FCP 5.1.4 for a while and understand most of the basic editing stuff in terms of a narrative environment - this question is a bit of a head scratcher for me because it's trying to come up with a workflow to speed up a relatively static task that is going to be repeated a lot.

Here's the situation - I am going to be recording multiple PAL clips direct to my Mac through a firewire connected XL1 (using bTV Pro - an awesome little app that I came across that is quite cheap and the perfect solution for the work I'll be doing). http://www.bensoftware.com/ if you want to check it out.

From there I want to take the resultant clips, and add to each one the same 30 second intro and 30 second credit sequence and then send them all to Compressor to ready for the web. (Effectively I am using the XL1 like a web cam and want to end up with multiple 'Vlogs/video diaries' on the same day that I can quickly record and upload to Youtube etc.)

Let's say I am recording in a single day 20 or 30 different approx. 1 minute segments - each of varying length. Is there a way I could automate the process of adding the intro and outro of the clips without having to drop each one into a timeline and render them out individually using compressor. Perhaps by using Automator or Apple Scripting or some such?

Effectively want I am looking for is a batch processing method for stitching video onto the begin and end of the quicktime files (could also be recorded as DV Streams if that's better) so I can just set it up and walk away, and then drag the resultant clips into compressor and do the batch compression to a suitable upload format and then walk away again (yes, I'm lazy. :) ) until it's time to upload the files.

Any thoughts?

Thanks for that. Might be a bit overkill for my immediate needs (and a bit expensive for the level of work I am doing on this gig) but it could definitely be a possibility in the future (and I see how it could seriously reduced workload in a busy enviornment.

I think I will put it on my to get list.
