Using Soundtrack Pro's Noise Print for an entire interview
 

So I've run into a predicament that maybe you guys can help with. I've just finished a rough cut of a documentary I'm currently working on and one of the interviews has terrible room noise. I right-click on one of his audio clips in the timeline to send to SoundTrack Pro and the audio for his entire interview shows up. So I noise print and process the whole thing.. and then save back to Final Cut.

Even though it processed audio for the entire interview it only saves out the clip I sent, and the number of clips and minute cuts we had to do on his interview does not lend itself nicely to doing that for each individual clip in soundtrack. So is there an easy way to clean the audio for the entire interview (maybe of the original captured footage) and just have all the clips in the timeline be automatically updated? Any suggestions/solutions appreciated!

It may not be the best way, but an easy way:

1) Finish editing the interview. Basically in a "finished" state, but before you want to export to DVD or whatever.

2) Export only the audio. Take that into Soundtrack, do your processing, save the file.

3) Go back into Final Cut, import the processed audio file, and replace the audio in the timeline with the updateD file. It should match up perfectly, but you won't be able to update the video track correctly anymore (which shouldn't matter if you finished editing anyways).

You could use a STP script... send the next clip and do the same noise print actions, then when you're done save as a script from the file menu, then back in Final Cut you can send all the files at once to the script. Be aware that Sountrack Pro ver 1 will change your media files and you will not be able to get them back, ver 2 will ask if you want to create project files so you can change them again.

Whenever I send clips to a soundtrack script it gives me an error saying it can't be saved. I have no idea why. It looks I may have to do it one-by-one. Which is twice as bad since I can't send both audio tracks to a soundtrack audio project (which as far as I've seen is the type of project needed for noise reduction, the option isn't available to me in a multitrack project.).
If anybody knows why Soundtrack Pro won't save that'd be helpful. If not, do you know how to make the two separate mono tracks of the interview some sort of interleaved stereo pair so they can be sent to a "soundtrack audio project" from Final Cut?
