MPEG2 from PC not readable?

Hi,

I am working on PC with Edius and ProCoder. I want to change my system for Apple. I found out, that I can not read my MPEG2 files created by ProCoder on Mac. What do I need for that?

Thank you very much

Petr

I haven't found a quick and easy work around other than to use MPEG Streamclip (free for the Mac) which will read those files and convert them to any codec you have on your system. - I convert to Apple ProRes422.

I've done some testing and at 800% the files seem to hold up pretty well and in most cases I can't find any artificats introduced by this conversion. The other nice thing is that now that they are in the ProRes format they will hold up during editing, effects, etc.

One other choice is to invest in Cineform (or if you already use this codec on the PC) and try the beta version of the new Cineform Mac codec. It will read your PC Cineform files with or without a quicktime wrapper.

I'm sure there are other options but I've yet to find them.

Thanks to Tim for his answer. I read about that software already and tried it.
I thought it would be much easier - install some codec or something, like on PC. Still dont understand what is the difference between MPEG2 compression from PC and MAC.
