does HDV needs rendering on HDV-timeline?

Working with a Canon Xh A1 in HDV modus (1080i50)

Using FCP, created a HDV timeline. When dropping my images on my timeline, they need rendering... Is this normal?

I think not, but I'm not quite sure.....

Did you set an easy setup for your footage? Once you change your easy setup, the sequences you have created previously will not change. Create a new sequence and you should be fine. Also, you can scroll over in the bin to check the sequence settings vs the footage settings: frame rate, compression type, frame size, etc.
