Slow-Motion in FCP6

Is there anyway to convert my 60P footage to a lower frame rate than 24fps to get an even slower image? When I covert to 24fps its slow but not slow enough and the time remap in FCP6 isn't that great cause it makes the image jitter.

Thanks

Duke,

I don't have my edit system in front of me so I'm writing this from memory.

FCP6 now has 'optical flow' built into Motion.

I've done this before and it seems quite simple.

If your 60P clips have already been conformed to 23.98 then they are perfect for this process.

Select the clip(s) you want to slow down.

Choose "Send to Motion"

When motion opens and imports the clips, you can then select the clip(s) and look in the Properties tab for "Timing."
You'll likely have to 'turn down' the triangle to open the timing options.

Set it to constant speed and set the desired speed (50% for example) if you hadn't already done so in the FCP6 timeline.

Now select "Optical Flow" in the frame blending options.

Motion will now analyze the clip. I can't remember if you have to wait for the analysis to complete before saving the Motion project and going back to FCP.

I do know that FCP can render the final image just the way it would with a LiveType title.

I hope that helps.

P.S. Moved this to Mac Editing forum and changed the title to "Slow motion in FCP6." You'll get better answers in the FCP forum than what I can supply you right now.

Thanks Tim, as always. I think you will be happy with the stuff we have been shooting for the feature. Finishing up the pick ups on Sunday. Did a big shoot-out scene last night.

Still have the taste of sulfur in my mouth form the blanks.

Will post some clips soon
