Metadata + Search Engine Crawling in Video
 

After doing fruitless research about the subject I'm bringing this question here. I'm trying to maximize the search engine traffic to all of my videos.

I work in an industry where I actually video sessions of people talking about SEO (search engine optimization) and I would like this thread to be a dialog for how to improve this to get as many eyeballs to your video as possible.

The Facts

Blended search is becoming more Prevalent.
If you notice, thumbnails are popping up in google search with more frequency. For instance if you do a search for 'octopuss' you get some youtube thumbnails in the result. Makes sense because youtube is owned by google, but if you search for 'cuban porn' you'll also get a blended result for a video my company (webpronews) did several years ago. (It's not what you think)

The Questions
What I'm wondering is if any gurus have some insight for me.

Currently we are uploading 2 large flash files and an mp4 after outputting to .avi from Vegas, into Sorenson Squeeze 5 and converting from there. It has a 'Modify Metadata' option where you can 'inject' metadata into the various file format you'll be encoding to. Tonight I did a test where I right click the final file and went to properties / Summary and no Metadata wasn't present. I also downloaded MetaViewer 1.0, viewed the file and there is ZERO metadata available.

What gives? This information is important for anyone running a blog and doing their own hosting. I've been in sessions where 'experts' mention that .swf's are finally able to be crawled by google, yahoo, live, etc.

Do any of you use .swf's and .flvs at the same time? I'm wondering if this would be a worthwhile adjustment to get closer to thumbnails in searches and increased ranking for search topics.

I'm also curious what everyone uses to apply metadata to their video. (Title, Description, Keywords)
