Sorenson Squeeze Exporting Audio Only to .FLV
 

For some reason Sorenson just started exporting the audio portion of the .mov that I'm converting to a .flv. I've been converting complete videos (with video and audio) from .mov into .flv's without any problems for well over a year and this is the first time this problem has happened. Everything is checked properly in the audio AND video sections and I'm not doing anything differently than I had in the past.

Since this just started occuring I'm thinking there may be some small bug in some of the latest versions of FCP,QT, Flash and/or Sorenson - with the most likely being FCP or QT. (IMO).

Has anyone else experienced this problem?

hi derek. are you outputting to spark or on2?

the on2 codec is an addon, and requires a separate serial number. rendering to on2 without registering it will result in a big red x on the video, at least here on the pc.

i've had some problems with the on2 codec implementation into squeeze. i recently exported some quicktime clips with an alpha channel from after effects, brought them into squeeze, and kicked em out using the on2 codec, 2 pass vbr, with alpha, and all i got in the output files was a video screen filled with a solid magenta, with audio. this happens unpredictably for me, as sometimes clips with or without an alpha channel will encode fine, or are sometimes just partially corrupted. encoding to the spark codec works fine, but wasn't usable in this case because spark doesn't support an alpha channel. in the end, i ended up using the flv encoder that came with flash 8 pro instead. file sizes were bigger, but at least they looked like they should.

in any case, perhaps a reinstall of squeeze is in order.

After a very long day of many failed attempts trying to compress and convert the .mov's into .flv's using Sorenson Spark Pro on Sunday I ended up looking into using Flash 8 for the video with the On2 vp6 codec. I did everything using the "import video" feature in Flash 8, including the actual compression within Flash. I've been happy with the results from what I've seen so far. IMO the video quality is better and does come in with smaller file sizes. Up until this point I had been using a Flash 6 player to ensure that the majority of viewers could see the videos. Now, Flash 8's been out for about a year, so a Flash 8 player should be on most people's computers by now.

I'm still going to try to find a solution to the problem. Hopefully someone at Sorenson will have some advice. This topic has been raised in their forums as well (with no solution to date). The craziest thing about this is that I've been compressing video with Sorenson for a long time and have never had a problem with it.
