Yellowstone River Helicam clip
 

I'm new to this site so this is my first post. I have flown RC helicopters all of my adult life as a professional in precision aerobatics and as a consultant to the defense industry. In 1998 I flew in a film called "The Mighty" with Sharon Stone and ever since have been increasingly interested in aerial video/cinematography. I finally started getting serious about this 3 years ago. I hope to share/learn how to do this better here. I am still on the steep side of the video learning curve but I am having fun learning.

Here is a short clip shot with HVX200 on one of my large twin cylinder gas powered helicams as part of a documentary about fly fishing with wounded Gulf War veterans. Shot at 720P at 30 frames. I hope you like it.

Wendell thank you for sharing. Can tell you have been flying your machine for years very smooth.

I shoot a lot from full size machine for my business but do not know much about RC Heli except running a sim on and old PC. And that is where I will stay for now when it comes to flying a RC Heli considering how much I crash. Nice to have a reset on the sim.

I do not know the HVX200 but the picture seems very soft to me. Also you might try to shoot 720p 30p/60p which will smooth out the video even more and give you 50% speed.

Keep the post coming this is a growing part of the market and there are a lot of DVinfo.net people interested.

That clip is the first I have ever uploaded to the internet so I have a lot to learn about settings and such. It looks much better in FCP. Also the producer insisted on 30 frames even though I always try to convince clients that 60 frames is better for motion/panning.

I didn't know about the other forum - neat stuff!
