Very nice. Cool concept - especially owning the helicopter.

Some comments on the experience: First the plane looked a bit static. Partly because of the lock between the camera and the plane, but also because the helicopter has so much more mass than the plane - it doesn't bank, turn and dive like the smaller plane. I would think that green screening the plane could give a freer and more flowing experience. (Of course, you'd still be in post this time next month.)

Ironically, the "chatter" of the wings, while 100% real, was counter to the desired experience. I want to float like magic in smooth air, rather than be buffeted by wind. With a green screened plane you might want a fan on the wings, but it could actually be much softer than reality.

Also, the shallow DOF probably worked to your disadvantage. I would think that the plane could be a bit out of focus, but the ground should be crisp. That's my experience in flight, anyway.

Thanks for sharing this! The possibilities are really inspiring. My comments on the experience could not be made without seeing your short film. That's the difference between theory and practice. In some ways, the flying scenes were *too* real. Often in film, we want to experience things the way we imagine them, rather than the way they actually are.

Loved it!!! God flowing over the water by MOBY is one of the greatest songs ever composed!!! The aerial shots were beautiful, i will peruse your blog shortly. All in all very good, I wish i could afford a 5DMK2.... Awesome job bro!!!

I read all Jon's comments - which seemed pretty valid, once mentioned - but, not knowing what exactly to expect - I figured the first 90sec (which could have been 30 for my ADD) was going to turn into a derivative; Kid becomes F16 Pilot. For my simple mind, it was a nice surprise to see the focus stay on the balsa glider. Nicely done.
