Video Goggle Flying
 

Hi

The more I fly these things the more I wonder why folks want large Multirotors with large cameras.
Just hurts way more when they fall out of the sky and you are heavily restricted in the shots you can get.

This little nimble Quad I built for $500 plus $150 gimbal and a GoPro. :-)
Performance is amazing with 10 min+ flights.

That looks great. I have the same frame.

The reason people build bigger MR's is because for a lot of productions a GoPro isn't acceptable so they need to fly a bigger camera.

But I agree, it doesn't get much simpler than flying a GoPro and its a whole lot less stressful..

Well I cannot see the point in using a larger one unless your are making shows for HD tv. All of my 5 quads have crashed for a variety of reasons. Worse case I loose abot $1000 dollars.....thats it.

That's already quite smooth flying, do you do this for fun or do you do paid jobs with it? My favorite is this one, that looks like it was on rails:

That's incredible. I use a DJI Phantom with GoPro and Zenmuse gimbal, but I still couldn't pull off anything as smooth as that.

Yeh those are some cool shots alright.
These things are going to be a common as mobile phones.

Like the USA - FAA, CASA over here have way over the top requirements to fly these for some coin. Would you believe you have to sit your private pilots exam plus other crazy stuff to fly a little plastic toy quad with a go pro. And if you have a DIY home built quad then impossible to a license to fly for coin anyhow. I told them to get their act together and come out with some more sensible licenses or everyone will simply ignore them. With these Phantoms in GPS and IOC mode, a 6 year old could fly them. Its a bit like saying you cannot take pics with your mobile phone and sell them.

So I just fly for fun, to build up my skills and fine tune the quads.

I have a Phantom that I fly with a 4S lipo and Tarot gimbal set up for FPVing.

Next is a HT FPV Quad with Beholder lite gimbal, set up for FPVing.

Ten there is a Scarab Reconn V3 set up for FPVing and with a Beholder lite gimbal as well.
This has the new Paris 5 flight controller that comes with OSD built in, its one mean super smooth and fast machine. Here is the first test flight with the new Paris 5 flight controller.
It hit 55 kmph and I was just idling around the park.
Plan to get some cool shots over the next few months.
