CAA Accreditation in UK?

Just wondering if anyone on this forum has completed the BNUC certification here in the UK.

I'm considering signing up for this and would welcome any anecdotal feedback on how demanding / undemanding the training for this certificate is and also how useful the actual learning is.

Of particular interest to me is what is required for the Flying test, what does it consist of? Flying round an aerial course?

Any particular training schools that are recommended? I'm in discussion with EuroUSC who seem pretty well organised.

Overall I'm knocked out with the quality of the images I'm getting and I have a huge respect for the skills of many of the people who have uploaded phantom footage to Vimeo and YouTube, the beauty of some of the shots I've seen belies the effort and skill required to acquire them.

My interest in filming with the Phantom is to use it as an extra offering to my clients in the Construction and Highway Maintenance Industry, road builders, town centre regeneration projects etc.

However the only way to do this in a responsible manner is to get the CAA certification, this legalises the use of a Small Unmanned Aircraft for professional work and is the only way to get fully insured ( public liability )

I'm now 3 weeks in with my Phantom 2. In that period I've had one mishap where one of the stabilising grommets must have come off, this unbalanced the craft and led to me flying into heavy undergrowth. The phantom was undamaged but unfortunately the cable that connects the ZenMuse to the GoPro broke and in that process the USB port on the GoPro has come loose inside and it is now not possible to plug the unit in for recharging, accessing media.

Research on the internet says that it's going to be cheaper to buy a new GoPro than fix a broken one. It still works but to access the battery for recharging would entail unscrewing the unit from the ZenMuse after every flight which is a real pain.

So I've bought a new GoPro and being a 3+ it is substantially better than the Black 3 it is replacing.
