Court Rules FAA May Not Require Hobbyist Model R/C Registration

Well, file this under I told you so. I pity those private flyers who registered their model planes and helicopters and wasted your $ when the FAA falsley claimed you hobbyists had to register your rubber band powered Gillow balsa planes and your paper airplanes, both of which the FAA claimed were aircraft. I guess those little paper T shaped paper helicopters were now aircraft too. Better register your darts and Estes model rockets too. I confess to just not being able to find anywhere to put registration numbers on my $15 micro multirotor.

Even more drastic pressures is being applied down here in Oz. Our federal Senators are pushing for a ban on the sale of drones. What happens to those of us who are already "drone" registered with CASA (the aviation authority) here in Australia will be interesting to say the least.

I wouldn't worry too much about it. These are the same senators that required automobiles be preceded by a man carrying a red flag. Use of "man" rather than "person" is deliberate.
