Will the fire store soon be able to capture DVCpro 50. I understand that DVCpro50 is now able to export through fire wire so I was just a bit curious. Also if I have a dvc pro 50 camera but have a fire store connected can I capture dv 25 on firestore and dv50 to tape? Thanks

We cannot currently capture DV50 to FireStore. This is a relatively new concept of DV50 over FireWire in terms of camcorders and to my knowledge, there is only one camcorder (that was announced at NAB - the Panasonic AJ-SDC905) which is a DVCPro 50 camcorder with 1394 out. Most of the other DVCPro 50 camcorders only have an SDI out for digital video. As this camcorder does not seem to be on the market yet, I cannot answer your question about DV50 to tape and DV25 via FireWire to FireStore. But, I expect we will see this camcorder shortly.

Panasonic does have two new VTRs that have DV50/25 capability and 1394 (the AJ-SD93 and AJ-SD965). While the 1394 ports on these decks are capable of either DV25 or DV50, it is not clear whether you can record DV50 to tape and output DV25 from the 1394 port simultaneously.

I'll email someone at Panasonic to try and answer this question.
