NTFS drive format
 

hi there,

i want to buy a fs 3 (maybe 2 :-) ) but it would be great if there is a option to chance the file format to ntfs. i often have long shootings with 2 camcorders. after shooting i sync the videos on my pc. with this little 9 min parts it will be horrible because my shootings are 4 hours or even longer....
my question: when is it possible to format the drive to ntfs??
another solution: anyone know a software that changes the 9 min parts to one big one?? (if possible with no rendering the whole video)

Scenalyzer might do the latter,
get the trial to try it out.

For now the firestore's do not support NTFS, mainly to make sure
you can also read the contents at a Mac machine for example.

I have not heard of any support for NTFS in the feature. Considering
the fact that Microsoft basically does NOT license NTFS for use
outside of their own products I doubt you will see it any time
soon on any other products including harddisk recorders, memory
cards etc.

these are really bad news. i'd love to use fs3 but with only fat32 its a pain to do my work.

Hi Murat,

As Rob said, FireStore is a FAT32 only system. We do this for simplicity as well as the ability to connect to both Mac and PC without issue.

As for stitching multiple files together, our FireStore DV File Converter software will do this. It does this quite quickly. It also allows you to convert between DV NLE formats...for example OMF to QuickTime or AVI Type 2 to Matrox AVI. its me again. i looked at the price of the dv file converter. its not 99 $, its 299 $ (for me EURO). which price is the real one???

Hi Murat,

The $299 price is for the DV Standards Converter, not the DV File Converter. DV File Converter is $99USD or 99 Euro. Scroll towards the bottom of the page.

But you can simply import all the footage into your BIN select them in all and drag them to the timeline. I just do the same in Premiere and I had never feel the pain to stitch the files together.

I hope you too can do the same in your editing s/w by dragging all the files togather to timeline say you do multi cam shoot then you import them in two bins & drag each bin on seperate timeline and after correct sync between them u simply cut here and there and voila your job's done.
