"Y" vs "A" on the FS-3 LCD

In the user's manual, it states that a "Y" will appear next to the record symbol on the FS-3 LCD.
However, all I can see is the letter "A".
What am I missing?

Hi John,

Sorry for the late reply.

If you see a "Y" in the LCD, it means it is in Syncro Slave Mode (e.g., your camcorder is controlling the device). If you see an "A" in the LCD, it means it is in AV/C Mode which is when you are trying to control the unit from an external FireWire device other than a camcorder (such as a deck or you want FS-3 to appear as a camcorder to an NLE).

Change the unit to Syncro Mode in the Control Mode Menu and you should be good to go.

Hope that helps,

Thanks for the reply, Matt.
However, I only had the camera connected to the FS-3 when the "A" was showing in the display window.

I did select "Syncro-slave" mode...or at least it appeared that I selected it.

I'm not seeing a sub-menu when I select syncro slave mode.
Is there supposed to be a sub-menu to that selection?

John

Hi John,

Scroll down to Syncro Slave in the FS-3 menu and just ensure it is highlighted, you don't have to press SEL (this opens the submenu). Once highlighted, exit the Control Menu and you should be in Syncro Slave mode.
