Comment discuss - mutiple files/clips

Have the FS-4 and it's working as designed. My question concerns the multiple (9 minute) files/clips created.
Can someone discuss the advantages or disadvantages of combining or leaving the clips as segments. I edit with Vegas and know that I can bring in the clips and combine on the timeline but I'm wondering if starting with one large file which I then pull clips at my split points would be prefered.
Any comments?

I think as the files flow seamlessly together in the timeline it doesn't really matter...Although I would prefer lots of smaller files, that way if one corrupts you dont loose it all, and then have to go to tape to collect it.

Having used it for several weddings it really is not an issue. Plus also the fact that it names the files using the date and time is genius for getting clips in the right chronological order, as well as being able to search for certain clips. I know you can use DV start/stop detect in FCP but that does not give them file names.

Using the FS4 for me has saved almost a days work per video, easily..

unbroken timeline?

Does the unit designed for the JVC 5000 (JVC 5001) work the same way?
ie: The DTE will make multiple clips but the time line between clips is unbroken?

Ron,

The FS-3 uses the same scheme as the FS-4. So the answer is yes.
