Does FS-4 HD (not Pro) record HDV? (B&H ??)
Hi guys, I was under the assumption only the FS-4 Pro HD models recorded HDV- but I found a regular FS-4 on B&H's website saying it records HDV- is this correct?
http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/cont...cessory_detail On the 3rd page it says the following: Video DV: 25 Mb/s, 8-bit 4:1:1 (NTSC-DV) or 4:2:0 (PAL-DV) HDV: MPEG-2 (MP@H-14) HDV720p, 8-bit, 19.7 Mbps or HDV1080i, 8-bit, 25 Mbps The HDV line is what is confusing me---is this a B&H typo or does this model indeed record HDV? |
The FS-4's, pro or not can be uprgaded to record HDV. Check Focus's site. I think it costs about $200 or $300. It can be downloaded I believe.
You still get 90 minutes on a 40gb and 180 minutes on a 80gb. Mike Checked the site-----It is a $299.00 upgrade to the FS-4 or the FS-4 Pro. Mike |
OK, so I am further confused. I thought the "Pro HD" models were already HDV capable. I understand the non-Pro versions can be upgraded- but what about the B&H link- is that ready to go for HDV capture or not....the text seems to indicate it is?????
I'm looking to get a FS-4 but need HDV capability for FCP and am set to go to B&H to get the linked item- but I'm still unclear of it's HDV capability. Thanks Mike. |
The FS-4 Pro HD is HDV capable, but the FS-4 Pro is not. Pro just means extra fetures. Check the spec's for the Pro and you'll find it has more features and more file types I think, but both the regular and the pro can be upgraded to HD.

Gothca, so it has to say FS-4 Pro HD to be HDV ready-to-go.....otherwise an upgrade is necessary- thanks for the clear-up!
