Organizing Clips on standard FS-4 HD
 
Hi there, I am learning to use my new FS-4 HD (black body), and noticed when I connect to my Mac, there are 10 numbered folders, and then the dated folder with the actual clips.

I read in the manual that only the pro version allows you to "organize clips".

Why all the empty folders? Can they be used for anything?

Format the drive. It is possible that this unit was set incorrectly at the factory. Do the 10 folders still appear?

My unit has folders named 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, Folder with the files and a folder named log.

I can cut and paste files from one folder to another using Windows XP.

Until I read this thread, I thought it was normal for these folders to be there.

Manufacturing glitch?

I just bought a second FS-4 HD from VideoGuys and expect to get it very soon. I will check and see if there are multiple folders on it as well.

In spite of the HDV problems, I still can't stand tape. So I will work with SD until the HDV problems are solved.

Soon camera 2 will also be tapeless.

both of my FS4HD's exhibit this same "feature". doesn't seem to hurt anything tho'.

What surprised me is Matt's reply. If this is a manufacturing flaw then what other flaws might there be? Could this possibly be related to the HDV problems?

If these folders are not supposed to be there then it makes me wonder.

It appears that the folders were accidentally included in the version 1.1 firmware. It will not hurt anything and we will have a free update soon.
