Long interviews & clips
I'm confused about how the DR-HD100 breaks up clips. I've recorded one interview and none of my files re bigger than 1.8 GB. I was told by tech support that the firestore uses a Fat32 system that breaks files up into 2GB files. I didn't realize this was going to happen, so I was manually stopping my recording periodically so the files wouldn't be so big. I also got a whole bunch of files that are exactly 3.6MB in size. When I looked at them, I realized they weren't of consequence. Could it be that when I started my recording each time that a small file was created at the beginning of that recording? I'm not sure why that was happening.
Since the firestore automatically breaks long clips into smaller ones, should I even bother pausing periodically or should I just let the whole interview go and label them later? Thanks. |
I let the firestore run. I did a shoot a couple of weeks ago where I shot just under 2 hours. Firestore worked flawlessly. Clips were seamless. I am running tape for backup.

Thanks. That's what I wanted to hear.
