Camera suggestions for 60fps
 

Im starting to plan for my new movie, which is sports based. I'd like to use a lot of slow motion shots. My problem is that the two following requirements contradict each other:

1) Since I want to slow down the footage to around 25% speed, I need to first shoot at 60p, and then later slow down the footage an extra 50% in post to get the cleanest result (correct?)
2) The resulting movie will be output to both NTSC and PAL. From previous experience I know that the cleanest way to convert to both formats is to work in 60i.

The problem is that slow motion is best done in progressive....while the conversion to PAL is best done with interlaced footage. So what should I do? Will slowed down 60p still convert over to PAL cleanly? Am I worrying over nothing?

Also, how much cleaner is the slow motion footage from the EX1 compared to the HVX?

Depends on your budget... but the Sony EX1 or EX3 might be a good choice...

I don't believe there is anything that shoots 60 FPS interlaced, that would be 120i.

There are a few cameras that shoot 720P60.

The Panasonic HMC-150 is one.

I can't answer your PAL & NTSC question since I am NTSC only.

Sanyo’s FH1 and HD2000 will be out next month for $500 and $600 respectively.
They both have 1920x1080 60p modes which is perfect for slow motion shots.
