video quality

Can you guys help me? Every time that i work on my video's they look great quality wise. And then when i render them out to motionbox or just to a file they look pixelated, and the quality looks like cr@p. I usually render to avi or windows media. I use premier pro and or vegas. i currently use sony's (pd-170 anjd vx2100). Is there a better format to render to. i noticed last night that is was rendering to 29.97i. Does this matter, and do i need to make it something different. i don't know what it looks like on a tv, yet. Help, me. you can view some of my work at my website Home.

I'd recommend going through your project settings and make sure that they are the same as your source footage. Your best preset for Premier Pro is DV NTSC 60i. Footage that doesn't match the project settings can cause problems.

It really sounds you're really compressing your final footage. If you want to render for the Web, use h.264 and Quicktime or Flash.

As a test, take one of the pieces you've rendered that's particularly afflicted with pixelization and re-render it using the same codec but boost the data rate by a factor of two. If you notice a significant improvement in the quality, you'll need to change your compression settings.
