Sony "Room Link" - send FX1 and Z1 footage wirelessly!
 

Hey, is this useful? I found this link on another site, and it looks like the FX1 and Z1 can be used to transfer wireless 1080i to televisions. If the reciever is capturing the video and it's pre-encoded (uncompressed?) - isn't this great for $200?? It has a "MPEG2 HD (1080i) decoder built-in".

Isnt this box essentially just a wireless replacement for the component video cables?

It's a networked media player that you can plug into a router on your home network, or you can plug it into the server's ethernet port.

Thereafter, you can stream your media files from the server to the pictured Sony media player that connects to your HDTV entertainment center. These files can be video, audio, or photos. There is support for many file formats.

You can shoot video tape with your FX1 at 1080i60, transfer the footage to your PC hard drive, and stream it back out to your HDTV through the Sony media player.

This is but one of a coming explosion of these devices. The Sony uses the Sigma EM8620L media processor, like the I-O Data AVeL LinkPlayer2 already on sale and shipping in Japan and USA.

The I-O Data AVeL LinkPlayer2 additionally includes a DVD drive.

You can play back mpeg1,2,4, Divx-HD, WMV-HD, Xvid and countless other formats.

It's not perfect, but still belongs on everyone's must-have list who's shooting video with HD10 or FX1.

Everyone uses theirs differently, some rip dvds to network hard drives for streaming playback, some connect to music sites on the web, and some like me just store mpegs or WMV-HD files on DVD data disks and play them back at 1080i on HDTVs.
