video projectors

need to get a good video projector for showing montages at rehearsal dinners. don't want to spend a lot, but what are some good reasonably price units that give good quality, svhs input is fine.
I know viewsonic, Epson models are talked about a lot.
1080p isn't a must unless theres a reasonably price one out there.
thanks

Re: video projectors

I researched for a project and my short list included Epson EX7210, View Sonic PJD7820AD and PJD5533W, Optoma TW631-3D, Infocus IN2126. You have to consider the throw distance and brightness of the room since those affect your choices. Longer throw and more lumens are more money. Also look at warranty, especially the replacement terms on the warranty to verify the exact model is covered.

Re: video projectors

what did you find out about the 7210/7220 seems main difference is the 10 is 2800 ansilumens, to 3000 on the 7220. is it worth upgrading for that?

Re: video projectors

My list came from some requirements I had regarding resolution, lumens, throw, warranty, and availability at the time. Some candidates rejected due to warranty issues associated with a manufacturer. There's a good search engine over at Find Projectors By Feature - plug your specific needs in and you should come up with a good list.

did you end up buying one?

Re: video projectors

Nope, project on hold for now but I'll probably get one of those on my short list unless something better comes out in the meantime. And the application is projection mapping, not the same thing you're planning to do with your events. Please post an update when you get yours; I'd like to know what you end up buying and how you like it.
