JPEG 2000 - bandwidth & NLEs?

With the JPEG 2000 codec, what is the data rate/bandwidth (and is it adjustable?)? IOW, how much video recording would a 35GB rev-pro disc hold from a GV Infinity?

Also, are there any standard NLEs that can either support it natively, or via a plug-in?

Thanks,

Alex F

Thomson is in the process of buying Canopus, and one of the speculations is that they're doing this with an eye toward supporting JPEG2000 in Edius.

JPEG2000 is wavelet and similar to Cineform, imo.
This mean Cineform can be easy adapted to decode JPEG2000,
produced in hardware codec adv202, used in new Infinity camcorder.
Just my speculation:)

In the documentation they say:

"The compact REV disks store 35GB, sufficient to record more than two hours of SD or 45 minutes of HD video."

That is about 100Mbits/s.

Thanks. I looked and looked through their stuff and didn't see that. I'm sure it was in an obvious place too, and for whatever reason I missed it.

So ~100Mb/s - about the same as DVCProHD, but w/ different (smear vs digital blocks) artifacts. I suppose to the naked eye the output probably looks extremely similar when not artifacting.

Would be nice if CineForm adds it to their HW for various NLEs (would also be nice if CineForm supported more NLEs as well!)

Thanks,

Alex F
