Do I have what it takes?
 

I have FCP 5.0. A Macbook 1.2 gb, regular NEC 20” monitor and numerous FW drives. I’m considering getting the SONY HC3.

Will my system be enough to do all in a typical HD workflow? (I don't use Motion, etc.)

I see ‘Easy Setup’ recommended. Will I be able to capture and start editing right away? Is that Native or Non-Native? Will I have to convert to I-frame based codecs?

I’ve checked out some of the articles recommended to other posters at Apple and lafcpug.org trying to get a handle but would appreciate your opinions and insight.

I can't answer the computer question, but I'm pretty damn sure you'll just love the HC3. That is one amazing little camera, and in good light equals my FX1 on screen.
