Getting a "comb" effect in my captured HDV footage

I used HDV-Split to capture 1080 24p footage from my HV20 into my computer. I then ran the footage using the VLC player, but when there is movement in the footage on my computer, I see a "combing" effect. I'm still waiting to get Vegas 7.0, but in the mean time, what could I be doing wrong? I know the camera isn't the problem because when I play the footage back in it, it plays perfectly. Thanks.

Im only a beginner myself, but it sounds like simple interlacing. You state you are using vlc, so click "video" then "deinterlace" and start with "bob" but experiment with a few others as well to get the best result.
That fixed it for me anyway. Happy shooting.
