Capturing HDV 50i from Z1 into FCP as DV PAL in a Sony HDV deck

Hi,
thank you for willing to help, here is my problem,

I'm trying to capture the HDV 50i footage from Z1 into FCP 5.1.4 as DV PAL in a Sony HDV deck, i turned on the i.LINK conv. on the deck menu and setted and easy setup at FCP , but i when i start the video at the Log and Capture, the timecode runs but the preview is disable and if i try to capture Now, it says that there is no video...

what i'm i doing wrong? i tested it using a z1 and a canopus in a FCP 4.5 and it worked...

could someone please inligthen my way throug this?

thank you so much.

My Sony M15 deck has a menu selection under 'OTHERS' for 60i or 50i. Have you selected 50i (1080/50i PAL)?

I'm using the Sony HVR-M10N

in the menu says vcr hdv / dv auto, and there is a red light that changes from 60i to 50i depending on the tape, so i supose yes, its on 50i.

thank you, do you think of something else?

I am not sure about the M10. On my M15 I can select the menu 'Others' then '60i/50i'. When the selection is changed the deck reboots. I think the 60i/50i indicator light is just telling you what the tape is recorded at, not what the deck is set to. Maybe someone else has some suggestions.

Have you tried setting your Z1 to i.LINK CONV and capturing directly from the camera? That might help localize the problem; if it works correctly then it's an issue with your deck, but it you have the same problem then it would point to FCP or other hardware/software issues on your computer.

The fact that you're using FCP 5.1.x raises a bit of a red flag for me. I've seen a lot of posts with people having odd capture problems on FCP 5.1.x. I believe some of the newer MacOSX 10.4.x versions may have issues as well. I'm still on FCP 5.0.x and MacOSX 10.4.7, so this is all anecdotal and not from personal experience.
